What sort of activities will my child be doing in class?
Each drama workshop will focus on a variety of drama warm-ups, key drama skills such as improvisation, character development, storytelling, script work, monologues, music theatre, dance and vocals.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes, we offer a free trial drama class for our Fall, Winter and Spring Terms.
Can I attend class with my child?
Our preference is to drop off your child at the beginning of drama class. If you have any questions, our Creative Team is happy to answer any questions you may have at the beginning or end of class.
Are there any singing or dancing elements in class?
Our Fall Term focuses on the development of theatre training for young children, with some singing and dancing elements. Our Winter and Spring Term focuses on theatre, dance and vocals in preparation of the final show at the end of the Spring Term.
Who are the teachers?
Our teachers are trained educational drama teachers and artisans in the performing art community.
Will my child have the same teacher each term?
Our drama teachers will be the same each term.
Do students have an opportunity to perform on stage?
Yes, at the end of the Fall Term, we will mount a small presentation to parents and friends. At the end of the Spring Term, students will perform at a semi-professional theatre venue. Performance on stage is a key feature of Children’s Arts Theatre School.
Are bursaries/scholarships available?
Yes, we offer scholarships to students of all ages.
What is the cancellation policy?
No refunds will be issued. A credit with no expiration will be available for your child to be applied to any future term with Children’s Arts Theatre School.
Do you have a waitlist if a class is sold out?
Yes, we will create a waitlist if a class is sold out.
Are there any make-up classes or will I be provided a refund for a missed class?
If your child misses a drama class, there are no makeup drama classes or a refund.
Can I still enroll my child at Drama School if the term has already begun?
Yes, we extend our registration per term for the first 3 weeks of each semester. It is prorated based on the start date of your child.
Must a child have participated in the Fall session in order to enroll in the Spring session?
Each term is a separate term, your child may attend the Fall session only, or register for one or all three terms.
Can I pay in installments?
If you require payment by instalments, we kindly ask that you contact the Head Office for more details.
Do your classes support students with special needs?
Yes, we welcome and support students with special needs.
Can I register my child even though they do not have any experience in drama?
No drama experience is required to be a student at Children’s Arts Theatre School.
My child can be nervous in new situations. Can they meet a new teacher in advance?
If we receive information from a parent before the start of drama classes, we can schedule a meet and greet prior to the start of class.
My child is very shy. Will they get along with other kids?
Our drama program is geared to promoting a fun and nurturing environment. Our classes are child-centred with a focus on the development of self-esteem, self confidence and personal growth.
Can I register my child in a class outside of their age range?
Yes, you may register your child in a class outside of their age range. Please contact the Head Office for more details.
Is my child allowed to wear their headphones during class?
With prior notice, we can make accommodations for your child.
