My daughter has been with CATS for a couple years now - both camps and in-year programs. The productions are very well thought out and produced, and the staff are very helpful and hands on. Would recommend to anyone!!

Our daughter Lara has been attending CATS for the past three years and has had an excellent experience throughout. It's been wonderful to see her growth in both ability and confidence over that period; in fact, this year she played the role of Matilda and delivered an amazing performance. None of that would have been possible without the help of the talented coaches at the High Park location (shout out to Claudia, Claire and Liam!) who have been encouraging, patient and fun with the kids. See you again next year! Pari and Raj

Our daughter has been participating in the CATS summer program for two summers and now just finished her first year with the school year program! What a fantastic experience she’s had! She’s developed some great acting and singing skills, and made fantastic friendships! She can’t wait to do it again next year!

This drama school is top notch! There aren’t enough words to describe the incredible experience my daughter has had with Children’s Art Theatre School over the past 3 years. When a child continues to ask to go back, it truly says a lot. From Amanda’s stellar communication (Office Mgr) to the ever so talented Mark (Director), each touch point with CATS has been exceptional, seamless and headache free! We can’t stress enough how grateful we are to be a part of the CATS family. It’s very apparent how skillful and passionate staff are. They wholeheartedly care for the kids by really advocating for each one to shine. The interaction with participants is engaging, never boring. They promote teamwork, offer ways to perfect creativity and create a place that’s safe to thrive in. My daughter has really found classes to be empowering, with opportunities to discover who she wants to be. Making friends here with similar mindsets has been invaluable to both self esteem and confidence. One of the big highlights this year was the Spring production! The staff really goes out of their way to produce a semi-pro performance for the participants by including fun costumes, décor, tech and custom playbills at an ACTUAL theatre. This year Matilda was a smashing success. There were smiles aplenty onstage while kiddos confidently sang, danced and acted out numerous scenes. What a marvelous, memorable moment to be a part of! THANK YOU CATS, you deserve more stars than 5!!!

Thank you for the wonderful Winter and Spring season this year. My daughter LOVES being a part of the High park 12+ Wednesday group! She’s learned so much already and has met some amazingly talented people and made good friends. We were so proud to see her in Matilda! She’ll be back in the Fall 🙂 We love CATS!

Meet CATS Alumni: Mateo Chavez Lewis! 🎭

"I basically grew up at CATS, since I was seven years old, and now I'm working full-time in the theatre industry, pushing the boundaries of musical theatre forward.

As an actor, I've performed in new musicals with the Stratford Festival and Crow's Theatre. I also was seen as Jinx in Forever Plaid at the Fallsview Casino, and Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet at the Granville Island Playhouse.

As a musical theatre composer/lyricist, I just finished a sold-out, critically-acclaimed world premiere of my musical, Tommy Rhodes. My other writing credits include The Opening (which was presented at the Dramatists' Guild in NYC in 2024) and The Accountant (which received a Canada Council for the Arts grant in 2022).

As a theatre educator, I run a YouTube channel called "Music Theatre Theory," with ~10k subs, where I analyze the best songs of the musical theatre canon, and recently I hosted a panel at BroadwayCon featuring A-list musical theatre writers Tom Kitt, Laurence O'Keefe, and Nell Benjamin.

I'm able to do all this because I have a deep understanding of theatre that comes as naturally to me as breathing, and I really do credit that to the high-quality training I received from CATS at a young age. I can't recommend CATS enough for your child!" ~Mateo Chavez Lewis
