HAVE FUN!!!
Junior Program (3-6 years)
Fun, energetic theatre games are introduced to students in the Junior Program. Drama games can be used to introduce a lesson, to establish a mood, to dissolve tension and to encourage cooperation and group awareness. The "good" group feeling generated by physical movement and drama activities promotes trust in and sensitivity to others required for social growth.
Intermediate Program (7-11 years)
The intermediate Program is designed to introduce actors to specific techniques in order to develop their mind, voice and body for a confident and honest performance before a live audience. Improvisation and scripted scene study provide fluency in the acting fundamentals of conflict, action and given circumstances. As collaboration is essential to the creation of live theatre, students will develop social skills required to find creative solutions for problems as a member of a team, to confidently give voice to original ideas and grow in respect of the ideas of others.
Advanced Program (12-15 years)
The advanced Program has a strong element of improvisation work.Through exercises that focus on making scenes "on the spot" or with short rehearsal, the actors are trained to follow their instincts on stage. It is important that students at this age begin to let go of how they feel they should perform, and instead start to just "be" on stage. High character work is also encouraged in these classes, to free the actor from their own pre-conceived notions of a role or scene. The goal of this work is to produce a more versatile and daring actor. This term we are shifting gears from last years focus on high comedy and character work, and putting emphasis on the theatrical style of realism. We hope to achieve a production rooted in the reality of both the character and actors lives.
Enriched Program (15+)
Students who are enrolled in the Enriched Program are students looking for more in-depth training. Taught by expert teaching professionals, the classes include more specialized areas for students looking for beginning professional theatre training. The curriculum is designed to provide young actors with vocabulary, experiences and techniques necessary for challenging theatrical productions. This term actors will explore character objective, study dialogue, subtext and musical theatre.
